Do stars really matter? 5-Year NFL Draft Analysis

Do recruiting rankings really translate to football on Sundays? Find out below…

Rating the Quarterbacks

Last week it was running backs, this week we take a look at how the 2010 quarterbacks would have fared in the Seldom Used Reserve Passer Rating. Not as many surprises as at running back, but still a few “wow” moments.

Rank Player Team Yards Yards/Attempt Comp% TD Int Rating
1 Kellen Moore Boise State 3845 10.04 71.28 35 6 87.325
2 Dan Persa Northwestern 2581 8.55 73.51 15 4 84.378
3 Andrew Luck Stanford 3338 8.97 70.70 32 8 83.971
4 Scott Tolzien Wisconsin 2459 9.24 72.93 16 6 83.674
5 Greg McElroy Alabama 2987 9.54 70.93 20 5 83.665
6 Cam Newton Auburn 2854 10.19 66.07 30 7 81.974
7 Andy Dalton TCU 2857 9.04 66.14 27 6 79.927
8 Chandler Harnish Northern Illinois 2530 8.66 64.73 21 5 77.157
9 Brandon Weeden Oklahoma State 4277 8.37 66.93 34 13 76.866
10 Richard Stanzi Iowa 3004 8.71 64.06 25 6 76.538

For the most part these are the “usual suspects” with perhaps the exception of Chandler Harnish of Northern Illinois, who I don’t think I had ever heard of before this exercise.  Dan Persa and Northwestern’s media blitz aren’t going to win the Heisman for him, but he did have an excellent 2010, perhaps even better in some respects than Andrew Luck.
